Earshot Jazz will soon be presenting a concert, “Courtois, Erdmann, Fincker: Love of Life”, in The Forum at Town Hall Seattle on Saturday June 29, at 8 PM.
In the “Love of Life” project, three vaunted European improvisers musically reimagine the literary works of American author, Jack London. Classically trained French cellist Vincent Courtois composed the pieces and is joined by two tenor saxophonists, Daniel Erdmann, from Germany, and Robin Fincker, a Franco-English player who doubles on clarinet. Their tour is supported by the French Embassy in the U. S.
Vincent Courtois’ classical training endowed him with technique, precision, and instrumental control, while his inherent curiosity and eclecticism led him to create work with brilliant musicians from various backgrounds. As a result of these many experiences and influences, Courtois has developed a personal musical language that is utterly unique.
